Whom did you meet here?

My host was László Benesóczky, PR coordinator of Dean’s Office at BME Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, with whom we both had a presentation on the first day about our faculties. On June 28 I also had a discussion with Bálint Molnár PhD, BME’s Director of Communications, about university communications affairs, with professor Csaba Hős, Vice Dean for International and Scientific Affairs, about Faculty’s international relations, with a focus on bilateral relations and future projects with Technion University. I had a short meeting with professor Rita Mária Kiss, Chair of Department of Mechatronics, Optics and Mechanical Engineering Informatics, who has a 20+ year connection with Technion University.

I also had a meeting with Kármán Stúdió, video studio of faculty students, and the studio’s current leader, Bence Dros, and former leaders, Elisabeth Stadler and Levente Lovas introduced the half-century long past of the studio. I showed them our faculty’s PR video, and they also showed me their videos about departments and student events.

Did you enjoy your stay in Budapest?

I found Budapest an amazing city with rich culture, and BME a fascinating university with a great past and a promising future. I highly appreciate the altruism and positive attitude of my hosts, especially László, guiding me within the campus, and telling me useful pieces of advice for Budapest. All these aspects made my Erasmus+ mobility an unforgettable professional and personal experience.

Tell us about your professional experiences!

With László, we got to know, that we have similar tasks, e.g. editing faculty website and social network profiles, and other digital platforms, the newsletter/newspaper, graphic designing. Both of our work has the focus on student recruitment.

I also found interesting, that BME does not have a focus on recruitment of academic staff, because most of them comes directly from BME Faculty of Mechanical Engineering’s PhD programme, and PhD students are mostly recruited from own MSc students. Although, short of staff members is still an existing challenge, due to moderate finances. A visible percent of BME students are international students mainly from developing countries.

Also, transformation of our faculty’s video affairs with student participation is considerable.
